The Jr. Horseman Drill Team was formed in June of 2007 to give some of the Jr. riders something to do during the summer. The Jr. riders had so much fun learning the aspects of a drill team and riding together that we decided to keep the team going throughout the year and give the riders something to work for. The teams costumes and funds are sponsored fully by the Great Adventure Drill Team formed by Dawn Warsing. With conflicting schedules and new riders ever changing, the team worked hard at learning the drill to enter their 1st competition. They were entered in the Silver Sands Bridle Club Open Drill Competition held at their facility in New Smyrna Beach on May 3rd 2008. The Jr. Team took 1st Place in the youth division and 2nd Place in the Maiden Division (Maiden Division is open to teams who are in their 1st year of competition). We hope to be exhibition more at local shows and will be attending the 4th of July Parade in Williston.
If you are under 18 years old and looking for something more to do with your horse and can dedicate yourself to having fun and meeting new people, then come and see us. The only requirements are that you own a horse and are able to walk, trot, canter, be able to come to practice and have fun. Jr. Drill Team members must be a member of the Williston Horseman's Association.
